Rachael Elliott (bassoon, vocals) and Thomas Kozumplik (percussion, electronics) are longtime collaborators and founding members of the alt-classical quartet, Clogs. They’ve performed on stages ranging from the Sydney Festival to BAM, from Big Ears to the Knitting Factory, from London Jazz Festival to Amoeba Music, and points between. Their shared passion for chamber music, improvisation, groove, and sound exploration led them to form EK Duo in 2022. Together, they are expanding the musical possibilities for this dynamic and expressive duo.

nexbloom

Jubilee Chen (violin), Tessa Shune (piano), and Noah Perkins (trombone) are an exciting new trio that formed in Cambridge in 2022. They curate community-oriented artistic experiences by breaking out of the standard modes of concert presentation and into a space where they engage with the audience in a personal way.

If Only We’d Been Taller is nexbloom’s exclusive program of commissions and arrangements written for the trio. In it, listeners experience a full spectrum of instrumental music, from jazz to unorthodox contemporary soundscapes. With composers including Steve Reich, Reena Esmail, Chen Yihan, and Paul Schoenfield, among others, their music represents a wide range of cultural perspectives. nexbloom has taken the program on the road to Chapman University in Anaheim, California.
