Trumpeter Mariano Loiácono was born in Cruz Alta, Argentina. He studied at the Escuela de Música Contemporánea and with Fernando Ciancio and Juan Cruz de Urquiza (Arg.). He has attended clinics with Wynton Marsalis and Chris Potter and tooke private lessons in US with Alex Sipiagin, George Garzone, Scott Whendholt, Tim Haggans, Jeremy Pelt, Eddie Henderson and Jim McNeelly. 

As a quintet leader, he recorded his first album, I Knew It (BAU Records) and opened for drummer Billy Cobham at the Gran Rex theatre. His second album, What’s New?, was chosen one of the top ten albums of 2011 by magazine Jazz Is (USA) and was re-released by Rivorecords together with Warm Valley, an album he co-led with Paula Shocron. Then, he recorded the album called Hot House where he´s leading a nonet, also edited by Rivorecords. In 2015 he recorded his latest album “Black Soul-live at Thelonious Club”.

In NYC he has played with great musicians just like Gary Smulyan, Ron McClure, Leo Genovese, Joe Cohn, Sir Earl Grice amog others. Recently he played with the Vincent Herring Sextet (Vincent Herring, Mariano and Sebastian Loiacono, Anthony Wonsey, David Williams, Willie Jones III).

He is teaching at EMPA (Avellaneda Music School), besides he gives some private lessons about trumpet, jazz improvisation and ensemble.
