Swedish jazz singer & composer Sophie Dunér presents music from her latest release The City of Dizzy together with improvising acoustic and electric cellist Jeremy Harman.
Sophie has previously released the chamber jazz album The City of My Soul with string quartet (produced by Michael Haas, Coralfox) on PARMA recordings, hailed by Fanfare Magazine as “A stunning album, the music of which certainly opens up new and quite astonishing possibilities for other jazz vocal artists around the world to emulate and expand. A first-class creator .”
Sophie has collaborated with musicians such as Rory Stuart, Matt Penmann, Kahlil Kwame Bell and Dominic Duval, among others. Her performances span from the Festival de Música Contemporánea de La Plata in Buenos Aires and Festival O/Modernt in Sweden to The Bop Shop, Smalls and CBGB ́s in the US.
Boston-based cellist Jeremy Harman is the cellist of the Sirius Quartet and has collaborated with musicians such as Uri Caine and Marc Ribot, having performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Newport Jazz Festival. The concert will be accompanied by projections of Sophie's visual art.
