Norm Zamcheck (“Real Stormin Norman”) is a songwriter and pianist with roots in blues and New Orleans styles. He has released upwards of 10 albums, both on his own, and as part of “Stormin Norman & Suzy”, a group that gained wide notoriety in the 70’s and 80’s. Norm has also composed for film & stage, and composed two musicals that were staged this spring. He performs acoustically as a singer-songwriter, and with his 6 piece Real Stormin Band, which appears regularly in New York City.
Mat Kastner plays slide, bluegrass and other roots-guitar styles, as well as electric guitar. He plunks regularly with the Washboard Slim and the Bluelights jug band and the Will, Mat and Dan acoustic trio, and likes to sit in with bluegrass groups like Sweetcake Mountain. Earlier, he played with groups springing from the New Haven area like The Morning, Randy Burns and the Skydog Band, Karen and the Pistons, The Homesick John O’Leary Band and the Phabulous Pheromones.
Norm and Mat met at college in 1970, headed to Georgia with a psychedelic rock band called “Milkweed” and have been more or less collaborating ever since. (Mat has been on the last four of Norm’s recording projects). The pair recently made their Nashville debut.
