Solo piano from the European salon and American saloon
Pierre-Nicolas Colombat is a French-American pianist who's musical interests have always sprung equally from both aspects of his heritage. At 13, learning Ragtimes kept him interested in his weekly piano lessons and at 25, French musical life of the early 20th century occupies much of his attention in the first year of his doctoral studies. In this program he hopes to bring freshness to the music from the sometimes stodgy European salon and sincerity to often trivialized music borne out of America's turn of the 20th century night life.
