Mary Ocher

Mary Ocher is back in North America with her new album "The West Against The People" and its companion release "Faust Studio Sessions", following a European release tour of 20 countries.

Mary has been persistently creating passionate, uncompromising work, raw, thought provoking, socially and creatively pushing against the current, dealing with subjects of authority, identity and conflict. Her work is as enchanting as it is polarizing, ranging from traditional folk to raw 60s garage, ambient with ethereal vocals andabstract synths, to experimental pop with African and South American rhythms, when accompanied by her drummers.

"The West Against The People" was released on the German label Klangbad in spring 2017 and recorded with Hans Joachim Irmler of Krautrock pioneersFaust. It features solo tracks, as well as tracks with her two drummers Your Government, and elusive cult legends Die Tödliche Doris and Felix Kubin. It also features an essay elaborating on the themes of the album and analyzing the current sociopolitical climate*. The album is currently in its second edition, it was hailed by the British music press and featured in various "Best of 2017" lists.
The additional 10" vinyl "Faust Studio Sessions and Other Recordings" (a co-release of Klangbad with Swedish label Sing A Song Fighter) features additional collaborations with cello player Julia Kentand German experimental artist Hans Unstern. A special tape edition for the tour is released on Related Records. Her previous solo release was produced by Canadian Psych Rock&Roll guru King Khan.

VQnC

14556670_497408947131300_3432742001086727993_o.jpg

VQnC is an artist, writer, and singer whose love of performing stems from her southern roots and musical family. Growing up in a house of creatives, music was always at the center of her life. From making up songs in the sandbox at school, to singing in Irish pubs with her father, she’s always been a natural performer and has used music as a tool to bring people together.

VQnC thrives in the inevitable duality of experience and tries to feel that in her music: the shadow of sadness that silhouettes joy, the pleasure of realizing the pain has passed. Each emotion and insight is given meaning by its contradictory counterpart which, in singing, is ever a breath away.

For VQnC, performing is more than singing; it's living in the song and breathing life into the music. VQnC has a presence, a soulfulness that draws influence from female singers, like Sade, Debbie Harry, and Stevie Nicks, whose signature sounds embrace imperfection and vulnerability, sensuality and emotional realism. Her confidence on stage derives in large part from her experience fronting an improvisational electronic music collective. There's an art to captivating an audience without a roadmap, creating moments where music and meditation coincide, and she has learned her art well.

Currently the lead singer of Boston’s funk rock band, Dr. Fidelity, VQnC has also shared the stage with artists such as Busty and the Bass, Robert Delong, WET, ExMag, Congo Sanchez, Kawehi, Snoh Allegra, and Quantic. VQnC is excited to explore new areas of her artistry as she embarks on her first solo project with Hipstory.

Violet Nox

Violet Nox is a Boston-based experimental noise band combining elements of electronica, post-punk and psychedelia to create an abstract yet mellifluous tapestryof tension & release.

The quintet consists of Dez DeCarlo (formerly of Shiva Speedway and other projects) on guitar and vocals, Karen Zanes (The Freeways) on guitar and vocals, Andrew Abrahamson (Spectramotiv, Animal Hospital Ensemble) on electronic rhythms, and both Thor Maillet (Petridisch) and Kris Thompson (The Prefab Messiahs, Bobb Trimble, etc.) on synths. The original core trio (DeCarlo, Zanes, and Erik Jackson) came together in the fall of 2015 after having met and worked together briefly on a previous experimental project.

The band plays regularly, most often in the Boston area. Because of their ability to blend genres, they feel equally at home among the noise, electronic and psych-rock communities.

In November 2016 they released their first official single “Snow King” and its accompanying video.

Audrey Harrer is an alt-chamber composer/vocalist/harpist. Her music is an eccentric blend of nostalgic vocals, cinematic imagery, and playful dissonance. Audrey looks for clever ways to connect lyric and gesture and is particularly interested in the space where music and drama collide.
