Church Girls, an indie/ post-punk band from Philadelphia are on tour playing in Cambridge for the second time, joined by local faves Stains of a Sunflower and Jacksonville Kid.
Church Girls
Church Girls is an indie/ post-punk group on a quest to tap into listeners’ emotional marrow and celebrating the ways we work to become better humans a little at a time. Their new single “Young Planes” premiered on PopMatters, who described it as a “restless, urgent piece that fuses the fire and burning punk zeal of early Sleater-Kinney with the post-millennial anxieties and indie melodies of Angel Olsen." Their forthcoming EP, recorded with Scott Solter (Spoon, Superchunk) is due out in Fall 2018.
Jacksonville Kid
Hailing from all corners of the U.S., Jacksonville Kid is Boston based southern psych rock band. Trying to repaint the Americana idiom, they explore sounds that remind you of sitting on a back porch sipping lemonade on a summer day; then blasting off into the great ether and beyond. Paired with dueling fiddle and electric guitar parts, folksy-driven songwriting, and heartfelt melodies, Jacksonville is an energy packed experience you will not want to miss.
Stains of a Sunflower
Stains of a Sunflower offers a unique and confidently delivered modern twist on the classic elements of impassioned, '60s-kissed folk. The 4-piece alt-folk rock band is led by Natalie Renée, San Franciscan songwriter and lead vocalist, and is based out of Boston MA.
