Bassist Mikailo Kasha presents his debut album release show at the Lilypad. Featuring: Nathan Kay - Trumpet, Eric Nakanishi - Alto Saxophone, Hatsune Hirakura - Piano, Mikailo Kasha - Bass, Michael Wang - Drums
Mikailo Kasha is a jazz bassist, composer/arranger, and band leader from Mountain View, CA Previously attending the Eastman School of Music under Jeff Campbell, he currently studies at Florida State University under the direction of Rodney Jordan. While at FSU, Kasha has been invited to attend programs worldwide, including Ravinia's Steans Music Institute for Jazz, Jazz Aspen's JAS Academy, the Siena Jazz Workshop, and the Generations Workshop. He is a recipient of both the Northeast Florida Jazz Association, Tallahassee Music Guild scholarships, and a full-scholarship recipient for the 2019 Siena Jazz Workshop.
Kasha has shared stages with Maria Schneider, Ben Wendel, and Dave Binney, among others, breaking into both the national and international scenes. He has performed at venues and festivals in Aspen, Chicago, Rochester, Italy, and Switzerland. Kasha is also on faculty at the Stanford Jazz Workshop. In 2019, Mikailo Kasha was the recipient of the Down Beat Magazine's 42nd Annual Student Music Awards Jazz Soloist Undergraduate College Outstanding Performance.
Kasha has performed at venues across the US including, the Velvet Note {Atlanta), The Good Times Jazz Bar (Savannah), B Sharps {Tallahassee), Bop Shop Records (New York), California Jazz Conservatory (Berkeley), the J.A.S. Cafe {Aspen), and many more. Kasha has also performed in various festivals including the San Jose Jazz Festival, Rochester International Jazz Festival, Amelia Island Jazz Festival, Generations Jazz Festival, and the Siena Jazz Festival.
Mikailo Kasha will be releasing his debut album "Words Don't Do You Justice" on October 11, 2019 on a streaming platforms before his headline tour of the Southern US in January.
