Jakob had been studying civil engineering in Norway for four years before he decided to take a leap of faith and move to the States to pursue a career in music.
Born and raised in Norway, Jakob lived a middle class life with both parents and two siblings at home. From an early age he was exposed to classical music and 60s rock music through his parents. He played the piano for 5 years before he switched to the guitar after being exposed to 90s rock music by his older brother. Since then the guitar has been Jakob’s instrument of choice.
Jakob loves music. He has played in several bands and for several artists both in Norway, and in the States. Music has always been a big part of Jakob’s life and the last 3 years music has been part of everything in Jakob’s life. Over the course of the last 3 years studying professional music at Berklee College of Music he has learned to appreciate and master a variety of genres and styles both as a writer, singer and as a guitar player.
During his time at Berklee he has been writing, tutoring and performing with a number of artists in addition to being a full time student. Jakob is, amongst those who have worked with him known as a disciplined, hard working man who loves to learn. Utilizing these qualities Jakob managed to graduate from Berklee one year faster than the average student.
Some of Jakob’s highlights in Boston / New Hampshire have been performing at venues like the Middle East, Bungalow and the Plough and stars in addition to a number of performances on the Berklee Campus. Jakob loves to perform, and it shows.
Jakob draws musical inspiration from many places. He’s open minded and able to write and play in most genres. He has already been involved in projects that vary vastly in content.
As a songwriter Jakob has written many songs in the genres of folk, pop, Americana, R&B and blues, and as a guitarist some of his biggest influences are players like Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
