Church Girls, an indie/post-punk band from Philadelphia return to the Lilypad on tour with Schmave (New Paltz, NY), joined by local faves Prior Panic and Puppy Problems.
Church Girls
Formed in 2014 by Mariel Beaumont, Church Girls is one of Philadelphia’s most promising new indie / post-punk bands. Their new EP Cycles, released Jan 25 via Chatterbot Records, grapples with the dissolution of relationships, and the responsibility one faces in setting boundaries for loved ones who encounter the quicksand of substance abuse.
The EP garnered attention from Paste Magazine, who wrote, “with Cycles’ fuzzy guitars and hard-driving drum beats, Church Girls manage to keep the garage rock sound alive without irony.”
Church Girls have been touring extensively throughout the US, UK, and Canada in support of the recent releases.
Schmave
Having shared stages with bands such as The Districts, Caroline Rose, and The Nude Party; Schmave, an indie/lofi/rock outfit from New Paltz, NY has been steadily rising in popularity for over two years. Elements of nostalgia and intimacy, interwoven with rhythms and harmonies that have been compared to the likes of The Shins, The Born Ruffians, and Rubblebucket, drive forward songs that recount past experiences and relationships. The new album, We're Rowboat People, tends to reflect on the past in picturesque, yet cryptic and abstract ways.
Prior Panic
Gay cello rock from Allston, MA.
Puppy Problems
Puppy Problems is an indie rock band from Boston MA. Their first full length release, "Sunday feeling" is out now on sleeper records.
