Eva Gertz returns to the Lilypad for a special event culminating five years of musical and personal development in NYC. Joined by her father and esteemed jazz bassist, Bruce Gertz, Patrick Gaulin on drums, and James Beer on guitar, this is definitely one for the Boston fans!
Eva Gertz
Brooklyn, NY- based singer-songwriter and pianist Eva Gertz hails originally from Melrose, Massachusetts, and makes a visit near her hometown to present the latest music to her fans and listeners. Reflective, honest, relatable lyrics and a moody Joni Mitchell-informed writing style flow expressively like the characteristic curls atop her head. With training in classical piano from a young age, and a degree from Berklee College of Music, she demonstrates some impressive arranging and orchestration chops. Some songs take to a groovy world fusion blend, while others are more folksy or pop-driven. The constant threads are her colorful piano playing, story-telling voice, and her whimsical aesthetic.
James Beer
James Beer is a pop/rock guitarist and vocalist with hook-driven songs and incredible ear-pleasing production. Born in Boulder, CO, and now Brooklyn-based, he will make his debut at The Lilypad performing a unique acoustic set of originals to open the show.
