Double bill featuring: Erini feat. Naseem Alatrash and the new Chase Morrin Trio with Naseem Alatrash and George Lernis. Featuring all new music dedicated to cultural interconnectedness and global sounds by internationally recognized musicians.
Erini feat. Naseem Alatrash
Erini is a vocalist of jazz and Greek traditional music who blurs the lines between genres and explores intercultural dialogue through music. She is a 4th generation descendant of Smyrna Refugees, whose
music has been passed on to her through her ancestors. This music transcends cultural and national borders, drawing influences from Greek, Turkish/Ottoman, Arabic, Armenian and Byzantine idioms, with
many of the same songs and melodies being shared amongst the different cultures. Erini is accompanied by classically trained musician and improviser of diverse styles, Palestinian cellist Naseem Alatrash who has earned a reputation for fearlessly broadening the horizons of the
cello on the world stage. Naseem continues to be a voice for Palestinian culture and an advocate of its music. Together with Erini they present the traditional songs of Anatolia in a new light, carrying them forward for new generations, while helping to dissolve stigma and create empathy for refugees and immigrants living around the world.
Chase Morrin Trio
Chase Morrin, pianist, composer, educator from San Diego, is known for his diverse musical range spanning Jazz, Classical, Folkloric, and Popular traditions. Chase’s music is focused on culturally
collaborative projects and humanitarian missions, creating communal spaces for the arts. This new trio features a dynamic range of folk, jazz, and classical influences with Naseem Alatrash, Palestinian
cellist who has earned a reputation for fearlessly broadening the horizons of the cello on the world stage and George Lernis, drummer and world percussionist specializing in a number of instruments such as the Darbuka, Bendir (frame drum), Riq (Arabic tambourine) Davul, and Drumset.
