Soul Space is a jazz fusion and instrumental hip hop group consisting of piano/keyboards, bass, and drums. The group plays a mixture of original compositions and music by great artists of the past and present.
Cam Campbell, piano & keyboards
Cam Campbell is a pianist and composer from Worcester MA. His primary focus is jazz, but he has also branched out into other genres including; fusion, r&b, soul, and hip-hop. Cam sites as inspirations jazz piano greats including; Ahmad Jamal, Herbie Hancock, and Chick Corea, but is very heavily influenced by pianists of the 21st Century such as; Robert Glasper, Orrin Evans, Brad Mehldau, and Jason Moran. Cam has performed with the MA Central District Big Band and the MA All State Big Band. This year Cam has been selected for the All National Jazz Ensemble, and is currently leading his own trio as well as doing solo and sideman work in the Central MA/Boston, Connecticut, and Vermont jazz scenes. As a diverse musician Cam has played piano at his church from a very young age, he has volunteered his talent for his high school’s theater productions, as well as producing instrumental hip hop beats in his spare time
Conway Campbell Jr., bass
Connecticut born Conway Campbell Jr. is a songwriting, musician and producer. Raised in Worcester, MA, Conway found his love for music playing in church and school. When he started attending High School, he started to pursue arranging and composition for the bands at school, as well as begin to write new pieces in his own style. Recently he has put out an album of instrumental tracks under his musical alias “Black Power”. He has also began working with artist locally in Worcester and Hartford. He draws influence from many different genre defining composers and producers such as; Billy Strayhorn, George Gershwin, Quincy Jones, and James Poyser.
Imad Coulibaly, drums
Imad Coulibaly is a 20 year old drummer from Worcester MA that has been playing drums since the age of 5. He has been involved in many projects spanning across many genres such as jazz, funk, gospel, and rock. His biggest influences include great drummers of the past and present including Matt Garstka, Chris Paprota, Stev Gadd, and Robert Sput Searight, and bands such as Animals As Leaders, Moonchild, Lettuce, and Childish Japes. He hopes to tour both nationally and internationally with Soul Space and other projects he has in the works
