Songs as sung by Jennifer Kimball and interpreted by Duke Levine on electric guitar and Joe Barbato on accordion.
Jennifer Kimball is a musician known for her unusual choice of notes, her passion for dissonance and her willingness to create harmony where none has been envisioned before. She began songwriting in earnest in 1995 after leaving her first band, the critically-acclaimed duo, The Story. She has released three solo records, most recently Avocet (2017, Epoisse) produced by Alec Spiegelman; and two collaboratively — What Matters (2003) with her husband Ry Cavanaugh in their band Maybe Baby; and Hark (2015) with the holiday music collaborative Wintery Songs in Eleventy Part Harmony for which she and Rose Polenzani are co-conspirators. While running a small nonprofit called COGdesign which provides free landscape architecture/design for community-initiated projects in greater Boston, she makes time to produce and arrange music for Wintery Songs, write and perform locally and collaborate with Session Americana, Subrosa and other local musician friends.
