Natalie Joly, a singer/songwriter from Wakefield, MA, started playing guitar and writing songs at eight years old, and has been singing since she could speak.  Learning the piano as an early teen led her to start playing bars and clubs, establishing a career in acoustic performing at 14.  Natalie released her first CD at 15, produced in her basement by her and her brother Mike.  She sold enough copies to fund her next CD, Paint the Picture.  At 17, to celebrate the CD release, she rented out her high school auditorium and sold out the show!  At 19 she released an EP of four songs that can be found on YouTube, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Play and Google Music.

Now 23, Natalie gigs full-time throughout New England.  Making a name for herself in the Boston music scene, she has also gained a large social media following, with over 4,500 Facebook followers, 6,000 YouTube subscribers, and 55,000 Instagram followers.  Her Instagram videos have accumulated over 10 million views.  Natalie also has an original band, Natalie Joly & the Reckless Hearts, who recently won Song of the Year at the New England Music Awards for their latest release, “You Oughta Know.”  Natalie Joly & the Reckless Hearts are currently recording three new singles to be released in early 2020.

Rick Drost

Rick Drost writes and sings songs with depth and heart, songs that repay repeated listening and convey a long love of classical music, natural wonders, and poetry. Rick grew up playing classical piano in a musical family outside Buffalo, NY, and discovered a love of poetry (especially Gerard Manley Hopkins) in high school. Early influences were Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell, who inspired him with her lyrics and alternate tunings.  More recent influences include Vance Gilbert and David Wilcox, who calls Drost's song "Turning the World" simply “the greatest song ever written!”  Rick’s CD of the same name, released in 2017, charted on the Folk DJ list in its first month, and continues to get airplay from Europe across America to New Zealand.  According to No Depression (the pre-eminent journal of roots music) Rick’s musical approach invites comparisons to “Tom Rush, Tom Paxton, and John Sebastian.”

John O’Leary

**JOL SOMERVILLE ARMORY.jpeg

John O’Leary has played in a dozen folk or rock bands, fronting many of them as singer/songwriter/pianist.  He has opened shows for 25 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame acts—including Eric Clapton, Joni Mitchell, The Grateful Dead, and Muddy Waters—and appeared on NBCs Midnight Special with Wolfman Jack. He has performed in top venues from The Hollywood Bowl and Troubadour in LA to the Bitter End in NY. In the late 70s and 80s his unusual campaign for Governor of Connecticut and then US President paved the way for a new breed of political candidate—one unencumbered by facts or knowledge—to aspire to higher office.  He reluctantly accepts full responsibility for the current state of national affairs.  On warm weekends John can sometimes be found in the Boston Public Garden playing bottle-neck slide guitar—with or without the bottle—for music lovers of all ages and species.
