Golda Solomon’s (New York’s) Po’Jazz, Poetry in association with Jazz

Special Note, Reunion: Eliot as a young poet in the making, was a former student of Golda Solomon’s in N.Y.!
Expect prepared socially conscientious poetry with unrehearsed bass and piano responses—call and response—of various magnitude!
Golda Solomon
Golda Solomon, creator of Po’Jazz (poetry in Partnership with Jazz ), an Adjunct Assoc. Professor Manhattan College and CUNY (Borough of Manhattan Community College), poet-in-residence Blue Door Art Center, spoken word performer and founding member of The Jazz & Poetry Choir Collective, eight (8) poets and musicians bringing experience and playfulness to Jazz, and, on behalf of underserved people’s. Under the banner of JazzJaunts she also gigs around NYC and goes on the road with her poetry and New York Jazz musicians.
She is a founding member of IWJ (International Women In Jazz) and two-time awardee performing at All Nite Soul at St. Peter's, NYC, the "jazz" church and at IWJ's Inaugural Women In Jazz Festival. Golda's first collection of poetry was Flatbush Cowgirl, for which she produced a companion CD.
She is a member of WOMENWRITE, nyc, bringing poetry in performance to the tri-state area.
Solomon is a published poet with her collections, Flatbush Cowgirl and Medicine Woman of Jazz and CDs, Po’Jazz: Takin’ It to the Hollow, First Sets and Jazz Riffs and is currently at work on her memoir, “Blues and Black Ink: Found & Lost in Brooklyn”.
Eliot Cardinaux
Eliot Cardinaux, born in Dayton, Ohio in 1984, Eliot is a pianist and poet now living in Northampton, Massachusetts. Having studied jazz piano at The Manhattan School of Music, as well as contemporary improvisation at the New England Conservatory, he has lived in many places and absorbed a variety of influences. He is the founder of The Bodily Press through which he has released the works of other poets, as well as several of his own projects.
Most recently, the full-length poetry collection “Around the Faded Sun,” and the album of poetry and free-improvisations, “Magpie: Six Feet on Solid Ground,” featuring Asger Thomsen and Jeppe Høi Justesen. His first album as a leader, American Thicket, was released in 2016 on Loyal Label (Brooklyn, NY), and features Mat Maneri (viola), Thomas Morgan (bass), and Flin van Hemmen (drums). His poetry has been published in Caliban Online, Big Big Wednesday, Hollow, Bloodroot Literary Journal, White Heat, and Dispatches from the Poetry Wars. Cardinaux performs and records regularly around the East Coast and in Europe, with musicians such as Jeb Bishop, Randy Peterson, Taus Bregnhøj-Olesen, Eivind Opsvik, and Kresten Osgood. He is a current candidate for an MFA in Poetry at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
The Jazz & Poetry Choir Collective
The Jazz & Poetry Choir Collective had its inaugural performance May, 2011 at the Cornelia Street Cafe in Greenwich Village. This current group of musicians and poets comes together to share original pieces and pay homage to those who have worked with poetry and jazz improvisation. Jazz & Poetry Choir Collective members bring experience, narrative and playfulness to the concert stage, taking the art of spoken word fused with jazz to a new level.

E.J. Antonio
Poet E.J. Antonio has received fellowships in Poetry from the New York Foundation for the Arts and others. She has appeared as a featured reader and performer at many venues in the NY tri-state area. Her work has been published in various journals, magazines, and anthologies including African Voices Literary Magazine; Black Renaissance Noire; The Mom Egg; Killens Review of Arts & Letters, Mobius and Casa de Cinco. E.J. is the author of two chapbooks: Every Child Knows, Premier Poets Chapbook Series 2007 and Solstice, Red Glass Books, 2013. Her jazzoetry cd Rituals in the marrow: Recipe for a jam session was released in the fall of 2010. E.J. is a founding member of the "Jazz & Poetry Choir Collective," and currently serves as a founding board member of the non-profit arts organization One Breath Rising.
Christopher Dean Sullivan
Christopher Dean Sullivan, bassist, started his career in Pittsburgh , PA., where he attended Pitt University, Robert Morris College, and now teaches music theory for the Jazz Workshop Inc there. Christopher’s discography is varied and he continues to receive various New York State and community recognitions for outstanding Service in the Arts. Christopher has shared the stage in performance and/or recorded with Archie Shepp, Sheila Jordan, Yusef Lateef, Roger Humphries, Odean Pope, Joe Giardullo, Joe McPhee, Freddie Hubbard, Billy Hart, Christian McBride, Sonny Fortune, Charles Gale, Carl Grubbs, Irene Reid, Jon Faddis, Vanessa Rubin, Eddie Henderson, Bob Gluck, Charli Persip, Pete Seeger, Roy Campbell, Barbara Sfraga, just to name a few.
