Matt Savage
Pianist Matt Savage will be premiering his monumental pandemic pet project, the 12 Etudes for Piano, at this special classical recital. The etudes (which are immensely difficult for the majority of their duration) are generally written in an early 20th century tonal aesthetic, but with a few surprises along the way. And they will feature colorations and influences of composers such as Claude Debussy, Charles Ives, and Frédéric Chopin. Each etude accentuates a specific technical skill, but the pieces are also meant to be heard in order… and performed as concert pieces due to their ambitious forms.

Wayne Pearcy
Trumpeter/cornetist Wayne Pearcy will be Matt Savage’s opening act - he will be playing entirely cornet this time, with Savage accompanying on piano and special guest Chris Belluscio performing on some duets. Pearcy will be exploring many facets of the cornet literature, from more familiar repertoire staples to rarely performed duet pieces. And he will be performing all of them on a historic (circa 1900) instrument.
