Three female led Alt-Rock bands are taking your world by storm. Forest, Robin August, and Jess Detor are new age independent artists making their names more than heard around the world. For their first ever live performance together, this is a show that will make your body rock.
Forest
For Alt-Pop artist Forest, being born and raised amongst the vibrant music scene of Chicago became the perfect backdrop for a future in music. Now in Berklee College of Music her writing has taken on an intimacy through dream-like vocals and imaginative storytelling. Drawing her inspiration from Elliot Smith, The Smashing Pumpkins, and her favorite film ‘Buffalo 66’, her lyrics of love, lust, and heartbreak pierce through your soul as they are weaved onto haunting and captivating soundscapes. Her debut EP ‘Rough’ premiered in February, and with her next single being released this month, Forest is here to pave the way to a new age of rock n’ roll.
Robin August
Born and raised in Nashville TN, Robin August has spent the majority of her life funneling her personal experiences into art. Her aggressively raw lyrics and passion-driven melodies place her at the perfect intersection of indie-pop and alternative rock. Robin August blends ger appreciation for '90s-era female icons including Alannis Morissette, Sheryl Crow, and Fiona Apple - with the psychedelic crunch of acts like Pink Floyd,Radiohead, and the Beatles. Her most recent album, Avocado, is for the modern world and inspired by enduring sounds of the past. For RobinAugust, the record also serves as a form of therapy, allowing her to channel the pain of a recent breakup into songs that are hard-hitting, heartbroken, and melodic; a personal diary to the mind of a talented song writer.
Jess Detor
Alternative/Girl Rock artist Jess Detor hails from Minneapolis, Minnesota and currently attends Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. As a songwriter, she takes her affinity for women empowerment and translates them into anthems of passions. Her songs encapsulate the struggles of growing up, interpersonal relationships, and navigating sexuality. With influence and inspiration coming from Courtney Love, PJ Harvey, and even Taylor Swift, Jess Detor resonates with girls, women, and young people who are trying to find their place in the world we live in today.
