Longfei Li is a Chinese Pianist, Composer, Bandleader and Arranger. He started to play piano and immediately possessed perfect pitch at age 3. Longfei studied pedagogical psychology at Beijing Normal University before he decided to study music seriously.
Then he received a partial scholarship when he got accepted by Berklee(as a guitar student) in 2020. He’s now pursuing the Piano Performance/Jazz Composition dual bachelor’s degree at Berklee College of Music.
Longfei considers Bach, Bartok, Keith Jarrett as his top 3 music influences. His sound is based on but not limited to classical and jazz music. He has worked with a variety of international-acclaimed musicians, including: Scott DeOgburn, JoAnne Brakeen (2018 NEA Jazz Master), Greg Hopkins, Billy Childs, Jackson Schultz, Nicholas Urie, Dave Santoro, Christian Li, Kenny Werner, Kevin Harris, Ed Tomassi, Tiger Okoshi, Jason Palmer, Mike Tucker, Barbara LaFitte, etc.
As of the show, Bob Pilkington will be featured as a special guest. Bob is a professor in the Jazz Composition Department at Berklee College of Music where he has been teaching since 1982. The group will be performing original compositions in a variety of styles from jazz to world music, as well as arrangements of standard jazz repertoire.
