Henry Godfrey Jazz Orchestra - "For McCoy" single release show

The Henry Godfrey Jazz Orchestra celebrates "For McCoy," the first single released of an upcoming album of original big band music. The band performs pieces written by Godfrey and members of the band, all arranged by Godfrey.

Henry Godfrey is an award-winning composer, drummer, and percussionist. In 2021, he was awarded an honorable mention for the 2020/21 ASCAP Young Jazz Composer's Award. He has performed his own compositions in venues and festivals across North America and South-East Asia. As a composer/arranger, he has worked with esteemed groups such as the US Army Blues.

Since moving from the Washington DC area, Godfrey has recorded and performed with the Henry Godfrey Jazz Orchestra, a big band he directs and writes for. Their first release, Love Finds Everyone (Jan 2019) was followed up with the extended release Love Finds Everyone LP Edition (June 2020).

Godfrey currently lives in Somerville, where he performs on drums & percussion and teaches privately. He received a Masters in Music from New England Conservatory in 2020 and a Bachelors in Music from Berklee College of Music in 2018. Godfrey has extensively studied the Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization, which he is now certified to teach as well.
