Noah Harrington (bass) & Andrew Wilcox (piano), joined by virtuoso colleagues Haneef Nelson (trumpet), Andrew Bedard (sax), and Carlos Herrand Pou (drumset), present a night of music in celebration of Charles Tolliver's 1968 album "Paper Man", a masterpiece of mid-60's jazz with beautiful writing, playing, and musicianship. The 6-song record will be played in its entirety, along with two other selections from masters Stanley Cowell and Ralph Peterson. The band invites any and all who love the music of Charles Tolliver, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Gary Bartz, and Joe Chambers to come and take a deep dive into "Paper Man" at the Lilypad on Thursday, 2/23, at 10:00pm!
Andrew Wilcox (Hart), Noah Harrington (Berklee), and Andrew Bedard (NEC) have played jazz music together around New England for a decade, and have always shared a deep love for Charles Tolliver's work, especially the 1968 record "Paper Man." Joined by esteemed trumpeter Haneef Nelson (professor @ URI) and burning drummer Carlos Herrand Pou (Berklee), the quintet looks forward to diving into Tolliver's compositions and finding "Peace With Themselves" at the Lilypad this Thursday.
