Linda Sharrock, the quintessential voice of the new Black music of the sixties who stood next to her partner guitarist Sonny Sharrock as another instrument in the band breathing like a reed player, rarely uttering words, brooding, crying screaming , singing, the emphatic empathic sounding “Birds of paradise “1970 speaking in new languages from their circle in her debut recording released in 1969 with Sonny Sharrock on guitar / Milford Graves drums /Ted Daniel trumpet/ Norris Jones bass/ Dave Burrell piano /produced by Herbie Mann
After suffering a stroke in 2010, she relearned to sing again in 2012 using only the the expression in the sound without words and this became a very new direction.
More recently known for her recordings in the Linda Sharrock network on the label
First New York and then Boston, Linda Sharrock will make her first appearances in the US since the 70s with friends of the Linda Sharrock Network.
