almost olive / The Mops (NY) / Lily Porter Wright (PVD)

  • The Lilypad 1353 Cambridge Street Cambridge, MA, 02139 (map)

The Mops’ folk-forward output is eclectic, winding its way from noisy indie rock to introspective chamber pop. Recently reunited in NY, The Mops love playing shows with friends. Their discography includes an eponymous cassette (2016), a heartbreak LP (2019), a streak of biweekly bandcamp singles (2020-2021), and a contemplative EP (2022). Their latest record, “Honeycomb,” was released in 2023 on Blissed Out Records. It’s the band’s most ambitious collection of songs to date, with odes to new love and apocalypse angst placed alongside reflections on loss and addiction. https://themopssongs.bandcamp.com/album/honeycomb

Lily Porter Wright is an alt folk singer-songwriter from Providence, RI. Lily's most recent project, Toy Tunes, is out now on Bandcamp, Spotify, and Apple Music. "Lily Porter Wright's music carves out a unique, suitably paradoxical space for the present: outward-looking while deeply inward, poetic without tranquil reflection, beautiful and bracing" - B-Side Magazine https://lilyporterwright.bandcamp.com/album/toy-tunes

Based in Boston, almost olive is an eclectic trio formed by Jacqui Armbruster (voice, guitar), Karl Henry (voice, cello, bass) and Ricardo Guerra (drums, percussion). Drawing from a variety of musical traditions and sewn together through intimate lyrics, the trio explores themes like identity, love, grief, and vulnerability through their growing catalog of original music that balances groove and heart. https://www.instagram.com/almost.olive/
