Zwonaka / Ella Faye & AYĖL / Marianthi Olympia

  • The Lilypad 1353 Cambridge Street Cambridge, MA, 02139 (map)

Zwonaka – It is pronounced “zor-NUH-kuh”, to set the record straight: The 20-year-old singer-songwriter, -director, and -producer plans to release a new project this year, “i sent you two big boats you dummy!” (named after a scene in Will Smith’s’ Pursuit of Happyness’). He has come a long way from the wishful adolescence on his Sightseeing EP, now approaching his music with a newfound outlook as an adult. Whether it is including AI experimentation into his art, or traversing the planes of a South African artist creating a name for himself overseas, this only means more for the future.

Ella Faye is a folk-soul singer songwriter, born and raised in Boston, MA. Performing since the age of 4 years old, her songs speak from the heart with honesty and grace. She has been deeply inspired by the songwriting and vocal brilliance of artists such as Brandi Carlile, Joni Mitchell, and Aretha Franklin. She hopes her music can be a source of joy, liberation and catharsis for all those who listen.

Élisa Platonoff, AYĖL, a French film music composer, singer-songwriter, pianist and producer, has been passionately immersed in the world of film music and songwriting since her teenage years. Her musical versatility has been fed by her experience in many other art fields such as dance, visual art, and film. Influenced by Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Adele and Debussy, music has become her lifeline and a constant presence in her life, stimulating her desire to create and express her emotions.

For this show, Ella and AYĖL are joining forces for a duo-gig. They are joined by Neha Gautam - vocals, Elizabeth Xu - drums, Ella Wheeler - bass, Yichun Mo - violin, Malachi Braithwaite- cello, and Junoh Lee - guitar.
