The Gold Ounce Trio is an instrumental funk-jazz group comprised of drums, guitar, and bass. Much like a jazz ensemble, the Trio reimagines, expands, and improvises over original tunes and standards. Our overall purpose is to stimulate the ears and spirit by embracing the power, joy, and sense of discovery in funk and our improvisations.

The roots of The Gold Ounce go back more than twenty years, when Phil Friedrich (guitar) and Ely Delman (bass) became friends at college and began playing music together. Drawing influences from Prince, Parliament, John Scofield, and The Meters, The Gold Ounce is their first project that fully embraces original compositions, funk, and jazz.
