Sam Fierke with the New Jazz Orchestra

  • The Lilypad 1353 Cambridge Street Cambridge, MA, 02139 (map)

The New Jazz Orchestra returns to the Lilypad with a show featuring the talents of vocalist and composer Sam Fierke! Consisting of new arrangements from Fierke's sophomore album Mirage and new pieces written for this concert, this is not a show to miss!

Award-winning jazz vocalist and composer Samantha Fierke has blossomed into the contemporary American jazz scene with her signature “palate of rich hues” (Jazz Weekly). In her debut LP Mirage, each note and line she sings unfolds with ease and elasticity without losing an inch of the precision and mastery Jazziz Magazine describes as “astutely rhythmic.” And while Sam’s homegrown sound cast its roots in Missouri with a burnin’ Kansas City style, her education in Jazz Composition and Performance at Berklee College of Music took her to Boston, adding that urban east coast flare as well as a deeper dive into more global jazz, folk, and fusion styles. Having shared the stage with the likes of world-renowned artists Miguel Zenón, Lauren Sevian, and The Navy Commodores, Sam’s live performances show her true passion for improvisation and innovation as the “multi-layered vocalist swings, sways, and swaggers” (Audiophile Review) on the band stand.
