Voodoo Baby Aliens & Vesuvio - Masonic Brunch 2.0

  • The Lilypad 1353 Cambridge Street Cambridge, MA, 02139 (map)

Two of Boston's interstellar bands will be performing their newest albums. Vesuvio's recently-released volcanic self-titled album will meet Voodoo Baby Aliens' soon-to-be-released album "Masonic Brunch". This will mark the last Boston-based performance for both bands in their current lineups. Special guests do not include Allen Iverson or the ghost of Henry Ford, but they are great guests anyway...

Voodoo Baby Aliens is a 12-piece Boston-based alternative rock group composed of

musicians from eight different countries. The founder, Pavle Zvekic, often jokingly refers to

the band's sound as "interstellar post-punk" since the group's eclectic sound cannot be placed

into one definitive genre. The band’s upcoming album “Masonic Brunch” is set to come out

on June 24th, 2024.

Voodoo Baby Aliens draws inspiration from a wide range of musical influences, including

Queens of the Stone Age, Idles, Black Country, New Road, Kamasi Washington, Radiohead,

Viagra Boys, Black MIDI, Philip Glass, Nick Cave, The Strokes, Tom Waits, and many

more. This diverse mix of influences contributes to the band's unique sound.

The band includes members from Serbia, Macedonia, France, Spain, Iran, the United Arab

Emirates, Switzerland, and the US. In essence, Voodoo Baby Aliens is the definitive antidote

to the Austro-Hungarian post-pop depression.

Vesuvio is a Jazz-Fusion Quintet comprised of members from all around the world. Angelo

Della Valle (gtr) from Pompeii, Italy, Coy Simmons (sax) from Decatur, Illinois, Willem

Jochems (dr) from Geneva, Switzerland, Hana Uwai (keys) from Osaka, Japan, and Stefan

Dresler (bs) from Graz, Austria. Vesuvio started as an ensemble class at Berklee College of

Music in Boston, and has flourished since then. Half of the members first met each other over

Zoom during the pandemic, and the rest shortly after in person.

The primary goal of Vesuvio is to be a place where each musician can feel completely free to

be themselves, whether that is in musicality, humor, personality, and all aspects of their

person. The secondary goal of Vesuvio is to make music for anybody of any background in

any location across the globe. Being open minded has led to the creation to music that the

group could never have imagined in the first place, and we hope the listeners can feel our

love and care.
