Benedict Koh is a composer, arranger and bassist hailing from Singapore. With a love of oddity, extremities and poetry in his music, this concert will present new works written for the octet blending in improvisation, math and more. Benedict Koh hopes to bring interesting colors to his audience with his works.
durianhead is a Singaporean-born, Boston-based musician who works with noise, glitch, ambient, drone and experimental electronic textures. At times spiky and impenetrable, at times hard-hitting and visceral, at times elusive and amorphous; their music wrangles every last bit of sonic detritus into monolithic, enveloping walls of sound, color and light.
The Benedict Koh Group is an octet featuring:
Charlie Watson - trumpet
Gabriel Nieves - tenor sax/flute
Jim Connolly - trombone
Niko Malinowski - guitar
Peter Vasquez - piano
Benedict Koh - bass
Mark Valdes - drums
Miko Yau - vibraphone/aux. percussion
featuring guest vocals from Jillian Moore
