Ali Golodner presents her Senior Capstone Project (Berklee College of Music) - a showcase of women and nonbinary jazz composers/arrangers. 

Jiayi Guo is a Hong Kong-born pianist, composer, arranger, and band leader currently completing her studies in performance and jazz composition at Berklee College of Music. Guo began deeply rooted in a classically trained childhood, winning consecutive awards in the 2010 Hong Kong International 200th Anniversary of Chopin Youth Piano Competition and in 2016 performing solo at the prestigious Carnegie Hall as a winner in the 13th Annual American Arts Festival. In performance Guo has performed with renowned musicians including George Garzone, David Fiuczynski, and Wes Wirth, in addition to piano studies with Ran Blake, Damien Sneed, and Giorgi Mikadze. Guo’s interest and curiosity has led her to become a loyal student of all facets of music from studying traditional and contemporary jazz, world music, and mainstream culture. Guo aspires to be able to bring all of her skills to the table and spread awareness of the vast variety of music that exists.

Sofia Almeida, Portuguese singer and composer, recently releasing her debut single "Awaken Your Serpent". Her music reflects the Global Jazz Music Genre, and she has the propose of helping our global society transforming and fighting for a better world. Sofia is studying at Berklee College of Music in the Global Jazz Institute and is currently based in Boston, USA.

Samantha Fierke is a jazz vocalist from Columbia, MO, currently enrolled at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA for a degree in Jazz Composition. In 2018, they introduced their first ever jazz EP “Sam”, consisting of 5 standards played with a piano trio and featured artists. Since that first release, Sam has been performing professionally at live gigs and events, while writing and recording their own original music. In May of 2022, Sam released their debut single, soon to be followed by a full 8 track album of original jazz and jazz fusion. They draw much of their influence from global jazz and fusion musicians such as Gretchen Parlato, Chick Corea, Esperanza Spalding, and Avishai Cohen, but also deeply appreciates and studies more “straight ahead” jazz from the likes of Jane Monheit, Sarah Vaughn, Chet Baker, Julie London, Ella Fitzgerald — all the greats.

New England based Ali Golodner is carving her own way in the Boston jazz scene. About to graduate from Berklee College of Music, she is well versed in bebop and latin fusion, using her own arrangements of standards and original compositions to tell stories of life, love, and lessons learned. Inspired by Nancy Wilson and contemporary artist Jazzmeia Horn, she aims to bring light to women and nonbinary people in jazz by collaborating with as many artists as she can get her hands on. Golodner is in the process of recording and producing her first EP, composed of 3 original songs and 2 personal arrangements.

Sylvia Khouri is a third year student at Berklee studying jazz composition and film scoring and plays trumpet.  She has written for an array of bands such as the Navy Commodores, the Berklee Jazz Workshop Band, the Berklee Motion Picture Orchestra, and her own projects.  She started her first recording big band called the Khouri/White Collective with Tyler White playing an array of arrangements and original compositions from straight ahead jazz to contemporary fusion.
