Accordionist and composer Will Holshouser celebrates the release of his solo album The Lone Wild Bird on Adhyâropa Records. Will draws on an eclectic range of influences and his experiences as a working musician to put together an engaging and colorful set of music for solo accordion. His original compositions combine many strands of music into his own fabric: accordion folk styles, jazz, shape note music, and other influences are stitched together through counterpoint and improvisation.
Will Holshouser was introduced to the accordion in the late 1980s when a friend gave him a musty old squeezebox as a surprise gift. Since then he has been active as an accordionist and composer and played all over the world with a wide variety of artists, including his own groups. Will grew up in Cambridge and has lived in Brooklyn, NY for many years where he has worked with Regina Carter, David Krakauer, Eric Vloeimans, Michael Winograd, Antony and the Johnsons, Musette Explosion, Suzanne Vega, New York City Ballet Orchestra, and many others.
