Eva Gertz returns to the LilyPad with new insight and soul-baring songs composed on her 5-month solo road trip across the country this year. A newly hired Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music, this show marks not only a new Boston-based chapter for the Melrosian singer-songwriter, but also her first live show of original music since the onset of the pandemic in 2020.
Singer-songwriter and pianist Eva Gertz hails from Melrose, Massachusetts and lived the past 5 years in Brooklyn, NY. Following an adventurous 5-month solo road-trip this summer, Boston is lucky to have her back to begin her new role as an assistant professor at Berklee College of Music this spring semester. Reflective, honest, relatable lyrics and a moody Joni Mitchell-informed writing style flow expressively like the characteristic curls atop her head. With training in classical piano from a young age, and a degree from Berklee College of Music, she demonstrates some impressive arranging and orchestration chops. Some songs take to a groovy world fusion blend, while others are more folksy or pop-driven; all are sure to move you in some way with incredibly powerful songwriting and an emotive vocal performance that tells a story.
