Sarah Bernadette joins the Henry Godfrey Jazz Orchestra for a night of jazz, including original compositions and arrangements. Sarah Bernadette will be highlighting songs from her upcoming EP, sad poems on my phone, as well as songs from her debut album, New Leaves. The Henry Godfrey Jazz Orchestra will present pieces from their recent release, Attitude & Gratitude, as well as other selections.
Sarah Bernadette
Sarah Bernadette is a versatile vocalist, improviser, and composer based in Boston. Her music is deeply personal; through her writing and her performances, she hopes to form meaningful connections with her audience and listeners. She is an expressive performer and improviser with a love for jazz voice. She received positive reviews from her debut album, New Leaves, and looks forward to releasing her upcoming EP, sad poems on my phone.
Sarah has worked with Kathleen Flynn, Dominique Eade, Cristi Catt, and more recently Grammy-winner Cecile McLorin Salvant, whom she considers one of her biggest musical inspirations.
Henry Godfrey Jazz Orchestra
Henry Godfrey is an award-winning composer, drummer, and percussionist. In 2021, he was awarded an honorable mention for the 2020/21 ASCAP Young Jazz Composer's Award. He has performed his own compositions in venues and festivals across North America and South-East Asia. As a composer/arranger, he has worked with esteemed groups such as the US Army Blues. Since moving from the Washington DC area, Godfrey has recorded and performed with the Henry Godfrey Jazz Orchestra, a big band he directs and writes for. Their sophomore release, Attitude & Gratitude (2022) features premiere musicians from the great Boston jazz scene, performing to rave reviews.
