Join us for a night of spooky rock put on by 3 female fronted bands.
Kathy Snax
Kathy Snax is the solo electropop project of Kathleen Mahoney. The dreaminess of her ethereal vocals and lushly textured synths is juxtaposed with spacey tape feedback and moments of eerie distortion and noise, infusing her pop melodies with the surreal. Save for the minimalist drum machine beats, her compositions are entirely synthesizer-based: each synth line is recorded individually and meticulously layered, a sound that she achieves live by playing and looping in real time. For this show, she will be joined by a backing band: Al Simoes on guitar, Dave Briand on bass, and Jason Skibo on drums.
Betty Moody
Betty Moody is a five-piece based out of Somerville, Massachusetts led by Boston-native Anna Neumann, the band’s frontwoman, bassist and songwriter. Neumann is joined by longstanding local talents Jim Leonard (drums), John Brown (synth), Tim Cushing (guitar) and Cory Jackson (guitar). Drawing inspiration from influences like Broadcast, Joni Mitchell, and The Strokes, Betty Moody sheathes a folk-pop sensibility with indie rock rudiments, dousing dreamy progressions with emotive vocal drifts and psychedelic guitar bravado. Apocalyptic themes meld with faithful optimism as Neumann projects an honest and inimitable soundscape for fresh ears in a new era of live performance.
Talk Chalk
Talk Chalk is a spooky rock band formed in Boston, MA in late 2020. The band consists of Crystal Araiza (vox/synth), Dylan Sullivan (bass), Nick James Stewart (guitar), Mark Damon (guitar), and Steve Aliperta (drums). They have released 5 singles since December 2020 and plan on releasing two EPs this year.
