Matt graduated with distinction from the dual degree program between Tufts University and New England Conservatory of Music, studying with Jerry Bergonzi, Jason Moran, and Nedelka Prescod. No two sets of Matt's music are alike; reflecting his multitude of interests in the academic world, Matt's music draws from several sources of musical inspiration, ranging from Cecil Taylor to Frank Ocean.
