Ornette Coleman is a prolific saxophonist, composer, trumpet player, and violinst. Someone who fought for every harmolodic voice to be heard and for every note to have meaning. In 1971, he reunited his original quartets from albums like "The Shape of Jazz to Come" and "This is Our Music" and brought along the minds of the great Dewey Redman, Bobby Bradford, Asha Puthli, and more, to create his timeless masterpiece album "Science Fiction". This album is described by some as an "alien-sounding blast"; but Ornette might just call it "harmolodic". 50 years later, our ensemble made up of students of the music of Ornette Coleman, is approaching this music with fresh ears in hopes to reckon with and continue on with the beautiful lineage that Coleman and others set into motion.
This band is an unnamed collective put together by bassist Leo Weisskoff, made up of current students at New England Conservatory.

We would like to thank Joe Morris, an incredible musician, mentor, and human who has dedicated himself to educating young musicians about the music of Ornette Coleman and many other creative music innovators, like Cecil Taylor and Anthony Braxton,
